Stop Making Sense Exhibition Defies Expectations of Craft
April 19, 2022The Stop Making Sense: Expanded Practices in Contemporary Craft Exhibition is open to the public on CCS’ Ford Campus until Friday, April 23. The work on display is a collection of work by students, alumni and faculty from the Craft & Material Studies department.
The exhibit opened to an impressive crowd on April 8 in CCS’ Center Galleries, and was curated by Craft & Material Studies chair Kim Harty.
The exhibit gathers outstanding examples of handcrafted objects created by artists in and around Detroit. As the title implies, each of these artists subverts expectations of craft when they do things that stop making sense. The artists are fearless with materials, adventurous with design, engaged in experiential aspects of craft, and committed to expanding what is possible.
The exhibit is open to visitors on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9a.m. to 3p.m.
