Recognizing CCS Heroes: Week of 8/31/20
August 30, 2020Paying tribute to those on campus that are making a difference…
Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, CCS has gone through a variety of changes. Moving to offer the option of remote learning, preparing campus with all the required safety measures, bringing our students, faculty and staff back to campus with confidence, and so much more, was (and still is) a massive undertaking. With all of the incredible and committed employees we have at CCS, it is no surprise that many have shined during this time of uncertainty and change.
To that end, we will honor our employees who have gone above and beyond to help the CCS community stay on track in the face of a global pandemic. We encourage you to nominate your CCS Hero here.
*Due to the volume of nominees, we will space out the features over the coming weeks.
Brandi Keeler
Assistant Director of Admissions
“Magical unicorn” and “shero” are just some of the descriptors used when Brandi’s colleagues nominated her as a CCS Hero. Despite the emotional and physical toll of a global pandemic, current racial injustices in the world and recently becoming a new mother, Brandi’s contributions to the Admissions team have not gone unnoticed. Her commitment to the promotion of the College is exhibited on her CCS-focused social media, where she hosts an IG Live series featuring fellow CCS alumni. She’s also responsible for the design and build-out of the new Admissions presentation, all while managing her normal, heavy workload. Her positive energy and commitment do not go unnoticed.
Jerome Burns
Manager of Audio Visual Services
Jerome will bend over backward for anyone. During the pandemic, he has continuously gone above and beyond to provide for staff, faculty and most importantly, the students. At the onset of the pandemic, while campus was shut down, Jerome hand-delivered A/V equipment to students. When the campus re-opened, he seamlessly sprang back into action, opening up a new AVC checkout center in the Taubman Center and began overseeing the Model, Prop and Costume office. He has gone to great lengths to ensure the safety of staff and students by changing equipment and room checkout procedures to include major sanitization efforts. And to top it all off, he’s done this all with a smile on his face.Â
Katie Gaither
Student Engagement Manager
Making sure our students feel as connected and welcomed as possible during these volatile times is no easy feat. Katie has done all this and more, all while maintaining a positive attitude and impeccable work ethic. She’s worked tirelessly to make online orientation a success, welcome week an exciting and safe experience, helped to develop a new student app (even learning HTML) and so much more. After only one year at CCS, she’s made a lifetime of difference.Â
