International “Re-Program” hosted 12 students from around the United States

2018 study abroad program, “Re-Program,” led by Associate Professor Chad Reichert and Professor Doug Kisor, is a three-week international graphic design program based in Den Haag, the Netherlands. This year, Re-Program hosted 12 students from around the United States, including students from CCS, Western Michigan, University of Houston, Sacramento State and California College of the Arts.

The program included two projects taught by tutors Bob van Dijk (the Hague) and Rob van den Nieuwenhuizen (Amsterdam). Alternating with studio projects, the program included visits to 15 of the leading studios in the Netherlands with focuses in print, type design, interactive, exhibition and/or branding. Studio locations included Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Eindhoven, Antwerp as well as Den Haag. Offices included Underware, Wout de Vringer, RNDR, Floor Wesseling, Niessen & de Vries, Moniker, HeyHeydeHaas, Edhv, Koehorst in ‘t Veld, Team Thursday, Studio Dumbar, Peter Bilak, Mike Rijnierse, Vruchtvlees and the Masters Exhibition at the Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp.

In addition, students visited art and design museums, including Stedelijk (Amsterdam) Gemeentemuseum (Den Haag) Christopher Plantin (Antwerp), Het Nieuwe Instituut (Rotterdam) and James Turrels Celestial Vault (Den Haag). They also visited the Bijzondere Collecties @ University of Amsterdam where they took in a type lecture featuring a small portion of their extensive type archives.
