Interior Design Senior Selected Out of Hundreds to be Featured in Metropolis’ Future 100

Out of 300 applicants for Metropolis’ Future 100 program, one College for Creative Studies (CCS) Interior Design senior was selected to join the list of talented design students from some of the most prestigious art and design schools in the United States and Canada. But out of the talented pool of applicants, only 100 designers could be selected—and Alexis Friedman (‘22) was selected as one of them.

While students are nominated by mentors and instructors from their programs, Metropolis’ editor-in-chief Avinash Rajagopal along with SANDOW Design Group EVP and design futurist AJ Paron get the final say and choose 56 interior design and 44 architecture students to be a part of the Future 100 program. 

Friedman was nominated by Interior Design Chair Sandra Olave, who has been with CCS for 15 years.

“I have been in many of her classes throughout the semesters here at CCS, and I think she is an amazing mentor that we are lucky to have in our department,” Friedman said.

The selected students aren’t only talented designers but also advocates for openness, equity, and inclusion through their work and extracurriculars, and leaders on their campuses.  

During her time at CCS, Friedman has been a part of the Humble Design Group challenge at the Royal Oak Farmers Market, 3M Sponsored project, IIDA club student chapter, takes part in community volunteering, and started her own business creating renderings, while also maintaining her spot on the president’s list.

Metropolis has selected students from Harvard University, Columbia University, California College of the Arts, Fashion Institute of Technology, University of Southern California, The Savannah College of Art and Design, and Pratt Institute, among others.
