CCS Welcomes New Board of Trustee Members

CCS is proud to announce the addition of three new Trustees to the impressive list of currently serving CCS Board of Trustees members. The College welcomes Steve Davis, Marla Drutz and Alburn H. Elvin, Jr., Esq.

Steve Davis serves as Comerica’s Michigan Market President, overseeing Comerica’s business and community engagement throughout Michigan, in addition to his role of providing leadership for Middle Market and Business Banking teams. Davis has 30 years of experience in the financial services industry after joining Comerica in 1992 as a credit analyst. Since that time, he has held various lending and management positions of increasing responsibility and scope. Most recently, Davis served as Director, Middle Market Banking and President of Comerica Leasing Corporation overseeing a multibillion-dollar commitment portfolio. Additionally, Davis has served on the Michigan Senior Leadership Team since 2016 and has been a member of Comerica’s Sustainability Finance Council since its inception. Among Davis’ many business and community affiliations, he currently serves as a board member of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce and the CATCH Board of Trustees. He is a member of the Detroit Economic Club. Davis has also served as a member of Loyola High School board of directors and as a board member of Cass Community Social Services.

Marla Drutz served as Vice President and General Manager of WDIV TV (Detroit) from July 2008 until June 2021. Under her leadership, WDIV-Local 4 was dominant both on-air and online. The station has the top-rated and most-watched newscasts in the market, is the No. 1 NBC affiliate in the top 20 media markets and has been named Station of the Year five times by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters. On the digital side, ClickOnDetroit.com is consistently Metro Detroit’s No. 1 news and information website. Drutz has also bolstered a strong commitment to outstanding community service. Throughout her career in broadcasting, Drutz has received numerous professional awards, including the 2017 Broadcasting & Cable General Manager of the Year Award, 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters and numerous Emmy Awards. She has also been honored as a member of the NATAS Silver Circle. A graduate of Leadership Detroit, Drutz served previously as the Chairwoman of the Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau and is on the Board of Directors for the Michigan Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation. Additionally, Drutz is on the executive board of New Detroit and a member of the Michigan Roundtable for Diversity and Inclusion. 

Alburn H. Elvin, Jr., Esq. (Al) works at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, where he manages a team focused on providing valuable corporate governance products and services for the respective boards of directors at Blue Cross and its HMO subsidiary, Blue Care Network. Elvin’s 15-year career at the health insurance company includes previous roles in the Office of the General Counsel and Corporate Communications. As a licensed attorney in the state of Michigan, Elvin represents clients with tax and estate planning issues, as well as other legal matters. Elected in 2020, Elvin is president of the Oak Park School Board. He also serves on the Oak Park Library Board of Directors. Additionally, Elvin was recognized as a 2019 Man of Excellence by the Michigan Chronicle and Real Times Media.

CCS President Don Tuski agreed, commenting “We are so fortunate to welcome these respected Detroit business leaders to our Board of Trustees. Our Board of Trustees is crucial to the success of CCS. I’d like to thank Steve, Marla and Alburn for their service to CCS.”

This year, the College also mourned the passing of two important Board of Trustees members – Gary Cowger and Alphonse S. Lucarelli

The CCS Board of Trustees provides leadership, advocacy and counsel, working with the College’s senior leadership team to fulfill CCS’s mission and vision. Thank you to Alfred Fisher, Nancy Grosfeld, Michael Ritchie, and Edward Welburn, Jr. for their service on the CCS board through the 2022/2023 academic year.
