CCS Heroes Week of 9/21/20
September 21, 2020Paying tribute to those on campus that are making a difference…
Emily VanWormer
Health Resource Manager
Emily has done an amazing job in her new role as Health Resource Manager all while maintaining coordination of the CCS Wellness + Counseling Center, acting as the super glue that keeps it all together. Emily has jumped into this role during a time of uncertainty and has demonstrated why we value her so much as a colleague. From contact tracing and fielding phone calls to assisting in the organizing of COVID testing and answering questions from concerned parents, students and staff, Emily has earned this kind of recognition without a doubt, as her passion for education, empowerment and safety is an obvious priority. She is an incredibly valuable employee and human.
John Brock
Audio Visual Event Specialist
Even though most of our classes are hybrid, many of them have just a handful of students who are remote only, which presented a challenge of how to best include these students. John was there to make sure faculty were able to hold an in-person class, zoom-in and connect a remote student into the classroom. He willingly agreed to come to two “how to” sessions for CCS faculty who have remote-only students and patiently got faculty up and running with this new technology. He also worked tirelessly to help get the Taubman AVC up and running which is a valuable resource for our students. He keeps the tech end of things humming for our classrooms and does so with a great attitude!
Amy Ruopp
Chair of Art Education
Assistant Professor
Amy has played an integral role in the training and preparation of faculty for teaching virtual and hybrid courses over the summer. She was a part of the lead team of CCS faculty that helped with instructional design support, training, development of policies surrounding online courses, and content resource support. She took on this extra role all while continuing to lead the Art Education Department and writing the curriculum of a new MA in Art Education that was formally approved by NASAD. Amy is always available, amazingly positive, and helpful!
