Adjunct Faculty – Art Practice (Printmaking)

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The College for Creative Studies (CCS) invites applications for an adjunct position in the Art Practice department with experience a range of Printmaking processes. This position reports to the Chair of the Art Practice department within the Undergraduate Studies Division. As highly valued members of the Art Practice department, adjunct faculty attend 2 faculty meetings per semester and are encouraged to input their particular perspective to enhance the curriculum for their courses. Classes are scheduled based on availability and may vary each semester. Print studio classes will require the adjunct to teach on-site.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

This position requires strengths in mentoring and motivation of students to achieve their full potential in accomplishing work that meets college-level standards as established by the department. The candidate must be able to effectively teach the principles, vocabulary and mechanics of any of the following areas:

 

Printmaking:
Intaglio
Relief
Lithography

Book Arts:
Book Binding
Letterpress

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Successful candidates must possess an MFA and have an active professional practice as demonstrated through, exhibitions, public lectures, and on-going participation in the arts community. A minimum of 3 years’ experience teaching at the college level is preferred. Candidates who are dedicated to establishing themselves as an active part of the Detroit and SE Michigan arts community are also highly preferred.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

This job operates in a professional office and college campus environment.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
