Opening Friday, January 10, 4-7pm

Gallery Hours: Tuesday – Saturday, 11am-5pm

Celebrating over 65 years of sculpting and foundry work at our institution, this exhibition traces the evolution and legacy of this art form. From the early influence of Walter Midener, a pivotal figure in the 1960s, to Jay Holland’s transformative leadership and mentorship, we showcase the depth of our sculpting tradition.

The journey continues with the accomplishments of Holland’s students – Sergio De Giusti, David Petrakovitz, Robert Bielat, Hugh Timlin and John Van Amerongen and extends to the “next generation” of artists led by Todd Erickson, including Matthew Hanna, Henry Roberts, Alvaro Jurado, David Newton, Scott Hocking, Marcyanna Parzych, Gary Kulak, Sharon Que, Chris Zagacki, Willie Hahn and Stephany Latham.

The exhibition also highlights the work of CCS faculty members who have significantly contributed to the foundry: Susanna Linburg, Joseph Wesner, John Burkwhat, Paul Martus, Graem Whyte, Alan Brown, John Rizzo and James Viste.

“Passage of Knowledge” honors the rich sculpting heritage of our institution and invites you to explore the connections between generations through the art of casting.

This exhibition was curated by CCS Director of Exhibition Services and artist Todd Erickson.
