Studio Art & Craft
The Studio Art & Craft program equips students with the skills and knowledge to become successful independent artists and entrepreneurs. Graduates are prepared to run their own studios, exhibit work, teach, manage art organizations, and lead non-profit initiatives.
The Program
Our program emphasizes the development of creativity and critical thinking, skills that extend beyond specific disciplines. Students gain the expertise and versatility needed to excel across various industries.
Studio Art & Craft is rooted in traditional techniques enhanced by contemporary processes and innovative technologies. Within the department, the disciplines of Ceramics, Drawing, Fibers/Textiles, Fine Arts, Glass, Metalsmithing/Jewelry, Painting, Performance, Print Media, Sculpture, Digital Fabrication and Digital Media can be explored. Students can focus on a specific discipline within the program or explore a multi-disciplinary approach that integrates diverse courses and skill sets.
Under the mentorship of internationally recognized faculty, students engage in creating impactful art and mastering the artisan’s craft in designing functional and aesthetically refined forms while having access to incredible facilities. Experiential Learning in Studio Art & Craft
With our extensive industry connections spanning over a century, we ensure that the active learning our students engage in aligns with industry needs, preparing them for careers. Through hands-on experiences and reflection, students bridge classroom knowledge with real-world applications, both within and outside traditional classroom settings. Experiential learning opportunities are integrated into academic programs. Offered within courses or programs of study, these opportunities enable students to apply their knowledge through educational projects, partnerships, and placements.
