Daniel Fishel
Adjunct Faculty
BFA Illustration, University of the Arts, 2009; MFA Illustration with a visual essay, School of Visual Arts, 2011
I create figurative evocative conceptual illustrations that explore the relationships and tension we have with ourselves, with one another, society, and larger institutions of power. I use visual devices in my illustration work such as metaphor, juxtaposition, and irony to delicately lead the viewer to conclude that while our world is blighted, there is still hope.
Professional Experience
I currently am an instructor at the City Tech in Brooklyn, NY, The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA, and remotely at College for the Creative Studies. I have taught Sophomore to Senior level classes in Illustration.
I have been a freelance illustrator and animator since 2009 (www.o-fishel.com <http://www.o-fishel.com>). I have worked as an in-house illustrator for two years at Thrillist (previously Group Nine Media, currently a part of Vox Media) and currently work part-time as a contract illustrator for DotDash Meredith.
