The Looking Glass, a public sculpture proposal for Detroit’s Corktown, was created during a collaborative sponsored studio project between CCS students and Ford Motor Company. Through this multi-year project, students conduct ethnographic research and explore Corktown’s geography and architecture to document and visualize the future of the historic neighborhood. The Looking Glass, proposed to live in front of Grand Central Station, functions as a point of observation. Detroit’s filled with hard workers and busy bees, The Looking Glass creates a designated place for our citizens to take a well deserved rest and appreciate their surrounding accomplishments.
