Federal Student Aid Penalties for Drug Law Violations
Federal law previously disqualified any student who was convicted of possession or sale of a controlled substance from receiving federal financial aid. Effective July 1, 2021, that law has been reversed. Any student who was previously determined to be ineligible, whether for a limited time, or indefinitely, unless ordered by the court, is once again eligible for federal financial aid.
